SX... #WHATEVER. Day 1

So every SXSW I go about the same plan.. I dont make any; other than heading out to meet up with friends and what ever happens happens. This year was no different with the exception that I opted for 2 wheels rather than 4 on this particular day. Not wanting to deal with the hassle of traffic, parking, paying to park blah, blah, blah and given the previous nights event in downtown Austin, I just felt more comfortable on my bike. So I parked at work (I had the day off) and began my adventure. Stop one, The lost Well - 2421 Webberville Rd. Miles biked: 2.4 Friends: Jason, Marc And Mo(+1) :) Music: Kelley Deal and Mike Montgomery. Quotes: "I thought for sure they were gonna play Cannonball" - Mo(+1) "There just aren't enough bands using the word motherfucker these days, we just need more songs with the word motherfucker" - Jason (while listening to a band screaming motherfucker... a lot.) "Now this isn't a pot holder folks" - Kelley Deal [gallery type="rectangular" ids="628,629,630,631,632"]

Stop two, Shangri la - 1016 E 6th St Miles biked: 1.2 Friends: Marc, Mo(+1), Paul, Debbie, Paula and Drew Music: nothing remarkable... sorry kids Quotes: "This guy sounds like Dave Mathews but with better hair" - Marc

Final destination, Cusp on Rainey - 78 Rainey St. Miles biked: .8 miles Friends: Ryan, Tiana, Bonsai, Nikki and Jonathan Music: Meg Myers (heard her while I stood in line), Oh Honey and Night Terrors of 1927 Quotes: "Night Terrors play next here! I will get pics!" - Kyle "Fml, I seriously want to cry" - Brit

Enjoy the rest of your SXSW and please be careful!

Until next time, Kyle

The Music Project featuring Scott Adair

The third installment of this project features singer/songwriter and friend Scott Adair.  We decided to do the shoot at his place because it's where he creates his music and being a former resident of the complex, I knew that the light from both the north and south windows is excellent to work with. I've got to say that this project has really been a great experience. I get my own private concert in an intimate setting and really enjoy getting to sit and talk and lean more about the people I'm working with; and perhaps have a beer or two in the process ;).

Thank you Scott for your hospitality, CD and the bottle of Bulleit...

I've included a few extra images here that I really enjoy and I hope you do as well.

The Music Project featuring Evil Youth

For those of you who follow me, you may remember I first introduced this project with an image last year featuring Dan Raza.  If you haven't seen it yet... http://skykingphotography.wordpress.com/2012/06/15/the-music-project-featuring-dan-raza/... there it is.   I have continued on with this in hopes to put together an eclectic group of musical creatives, combining  an image from a shoot with them and the lyrics to one of their songs that represents them the most. The second installment of this project features Evil Youth, a female fronted electronic collaboration with sisters Brit and Steph Kagan for their song La Mer.  To learn more about these ladies' work, including pics, songs and music videos, check them out at http://evilyouthband.tumblr.com/!
