Brother Wolf stopped by to celebrate the upcoming release of their first EP "Life is War". A few beers and a whole lot of holi powder and well, you can see the results, This was was a ton a fun to shoot and these guys were a blast to work with!

I love every opportunity I get to work with Austin Musicians. Be it live, in the studio or on location; or in this case to be asked do all 3 and put it together, creating the EP artwork for an amazing group of musicians. Carrie, Shaun, Jared and Patrick...

My latest project with Carrie and the Cut Snakes was an unforgettable one.

I want to thank each one of you for the opportunity to work together.

And a special mention to Carrie whose 1 year task it was to come to Austin, Tx all the way from Australia, get a band together and record an EP before heading back to Oz. What an amazing journey for you and I was proud to get to be a part of it!

Cautiontape in the studio With Robert Harrison for their first EP!

I tagged along with Cautiontape last weekend as they trekked to the hill country to record their first EP.

If the name sounds familiar, it should. Robert, frontman of Cotton Mather and Future Clouds and Radar, has worked with the likes of Nicole Atkins and toured with Oasis and others. You can learn more about his musical endeavors by visiting www.starapplekingdom.com

Cautiontape stepped foot for the first time in-studio as a band, where Robert acted as producer and recording engineer. They will return in the near future to put the finishing touches on the EP.

SX...#WHATEVER. DAYS 2, 3 AND 4.

This night started as a rogue adventure, on two feet this time. Brit and I parked at a friend's and started our trek to Rainey St. in hopes of catching Night Terrors of 1927 at Bangers. We made it about 3 blocks, when Mo (+1) drove by randomly and picked us up. She was on her way to pick up Marc and Bonnie on Rainey, and lo and behold, this was where we were headed anyway. Well, Bangers didn't happen. A girl working the gate turned around to us and said, "If you don't have a wristband or a badge, you're not getting in," we walked away. Luckily, we ran face-first into Ron and Helen. You can't be disappointed for long when you see these two, so we stopped long enough to get a photo with them and headed to E. 6th.

Then, it was Air BnB time. We didn't quite understand what it was but the door people were friendly and welcomed us with open arms. Stef wasn't wearing the best walking shoes so the astroturf was comforting, we found some sweet homemade dog masks/David Bowie masks and booked it out of there within ten minutes... mainly because we couldn't understand what was going on in this place.

We finished our evening at the Sailor Jerry's party at Gypsy, had some tacos and called it a night. Friday was a great evening. The weather was mild and we found comfort in our family. We stuck to who we know and the places we normally frequent. Can't go wrong that way. This is the theme throughout our SX #whatever experience.

D A Y 4 Final destination: Joe's Crab Shack Friends:: Brit, Cody, Jason, Audrey, Courtney Music: Nicole Atkins Sunday, we found ourselves at a place we never actually frequent, Joe's Crab Shack! It was the Balcony TV party and we were stoked to see some of Brit's New Jersey friends play. Nicole Atkins made SXSW a stop in the midst of a tour to promote her new record, Slow Phaser. Sam Bey and Dave Rosen, formerly of Parlor Mob, were along with Nicole on this tour. What a treat!

We invited some Cautiontape members to join in on the party and though it was a bit cold and ridiculously windy, we made the best of it. Nicole's new stuff is stellar and we enjoyed hearing it live.

Overall, Brit and I had a great SX #whatever. Yes, there may have been some chaos in and around town, but we stuck together and played it safe. Thanks for the adventures, SX #whatever, we are glad you're through, but we cherish the memories and the photos we got to take while you were here.

SX... #WHATEVER. Day 1

So every SXSW I go about the same plan.. I dont make any; other than heading out to meet up with friends and what ever happens happens. This year was no different with the exception that I opted for 2 wheels rather than 4 on this particular day. Not wanting to deal with the hassle of traffic, parking, paying to park blah, blah, blah and given the previous nights event in downtown Austin, I just felt more comfortable on my bike. So I parked at work (I had the day off) and began my adventure. Stop one, The lost Well - 2421 Webberville Rd. Miles biked: 2.4 Friends: Jason, Marc And Mo(+1) :) Music: Kelley Deal and Mike Montgomery. Quotes: "I thought for sure they were gonna play Cannonball" - Mo(+1) "There just aren't enough bands using the word motherfucker these days, we just need more songs with the word motherfucker" - Jason (while listening to a band screaming motherfucker... a lot.) S T A R T O G R A P H E R S !

I had the pleasure of first meeting and hearing these guys at a house party where they performed, I knew I was in for some type of experience when I was greeted with a pair of ear plugs, "You'll need these later", I was told. After they played I knew I had to work with them; their style, their sound sound, the experience. Moody and mysterious are the two words that come to mind when describing Startographers’ music. The members hail from all over the United States, but lucky for Austin, we can now claim them as one of our own.

A brief bio: Ian Lund and Mike Pawlowicz met in Wisconsin and played in a band called The Danger several years ago. Mike eventually moved on to New York City, where he played in three bands over a span of six years. Ian moved to Texas shortly after and played bass in Austin’s own Gentleman Rogues. When a room opened up in Ian’s apartment, he invited Mike to move in. Mike made the move to Austin and soon, the music started to flow. As most bands do, they turned to Craigslist for a drummer, where they found Nebraska-native Matt McCandless. After meeting Katherine Peters at a mutual friend’s party, she rounded out the rhythm section and Startographers was born.

We prepped for our evening stocking an ice chest full of Lone Star sprinkled with PBRs, a playlist of contemporary indie-rock with the occasional hints of 90s punk and began our adventure.

The shoot ended with some Jay-Z, where the band “walked it off” on a red carpet. The libations were all consumed at this point, and if you look closely, you’ll see evidence of this in the photo set.

Cautiontape stopped by for a little studio session a couple weeks ago so we could shoot some new promo pics. I knew I wanted have a video to go along with the images so after a long night of shooting, a few wardrobe changes and libations sprinkled ever so slightly on top; this is what we came up with and transpired after I posed the question "What does Cautiontape mean to you?".

The Music Project featuring Evil Youth

For those of you who follow me, you may remember I first introduced this project with an image last year featuring Dan Raza. I have continued on with this in hopes to put together an eclectic group of musical creatives, combining an image from a shoot with them and the lyrics to one of their songs that represents them the most.
